With great honor, I am the elected family pie baker. And with Thanksgiving just days away, I’m on the hunt for my 2014 creations. Pumpkin is off the list this year, due to the simple fact that the ‘pumpkin spice everything’ craze has left me cold and nauseous.
Following are a few favorites being considered to grace the Thanksgiving table this year (I need to choose two):
French Apple Tart…
Chocolate Pecan…
Mississippi Mud…
Lemon…
Chocolate Cream…
What’s your favorite pie?

chocolate pecan gets my vote
Good choice!
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe….
I know, right? It just comes down to how much time to spend. None of these options are bad.
True!! Happy Thanksgiving!
We’re pretty traditional here, but of your selections, I would definitely vote for the apple tart and the lemon. I agree with you about the overabundance of pumpkin-related recipes that are floating around out there, especially on Pinterest. It’s getting a little gaggy to me, too. I did find a really wonderful and simple pumpkin muffin/cupcake recipe that I love. I think I’m going to bake some today and put in the freezer. The organic pumpkin puree from Trader Joe’s works really well in this recipe and creates a very moist and tender muffin. Their pumpkin is a little watery for pie, in my opinion, but I’m thinking of cooking it down a little. I read about doing that with canned pumpkin somewhere, and they said it made a huge difference in the taste.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Cindy! I know the pie will be delicious and the prettiest thing on the table. 🙂 xoxo
Hi Susie, Those two are at the top of my list. The lemon is so easy, it would make up for the more time consuming apple tart. Happy Thanksgiving you and your lovely family as well! It sounds like you’ve been busy with preparations for quite a feast this year. XXOO – Cheers!
Wow, are we glad you are in our family! All gorgeous pies. Love that lemon.
Soo hard to choose, but I know you did choose at least one, so what was that critical move? I did apple, at the request of the family. I know I am over pumpkin spice everything too, at least for the moment. 🙂
